HGTV star Jasmine Roth is opening up about her childhood — and the journey that led her to create the peaceful family life she once worried might be out of reach.
According to Entertainment Now, the Help! I Wrecked My Home and Hidden Potential host shared a heartfelt Instagram post on Dec. 23 featuring her husband, Brett Roth, and their two daughters, Hazel, 5, and Darla, 1. In the video, the family is seen cuddling together on the couch beside a decorated Christmas tree.
“I wish I had known as a child you can grow up in a house filled with chaos and unnecessary drama and still create a home without one,” the on-screen message read.
In the caption, Roth explained that her unstable upbringing made her hesitant to become a parent for many years.
“I waited a LONG time to have kids and one of the main reasons was that I didn’t know if I’d be able to create a chaos-free home,” she wrote. “Chaos and drama was what I knew, and it took me most of my adult life to learn how to set boundaries and prioritize healthy relationships. To step away from the chaos and be okay with it.”
Roth went on to encourage others who may have experienced similar childhoods.
“If you had a tumultuous childhood, chances are you’re in this same boat,” she shared. “Just know that your past doesn’t define your future. You can learn, you can change, and you can grow far beyond what others might think possible. And while it will probably be the hardest decision you’ve ever made — and continue to be every day — you can build the home you always wished for.”
Fans quickly filled the comments with messages of support and gratitude for her honesty.
“Thank you for always showing your human side, your vulnerability, your feelings, your struggles,” one follower wrote. “Being that real just makes me emotional and proud.”
Another added, “Now I know why you love creating beautiful spaces — because environment matters, especially when you didn’t grow up with a calm, safe one.”
Others praised the message for its relatability and encouragement, calling it “honest,” “helpful,” and “inspiring.”
Roth has previously spoken about the challenges — and pride — that come with balancing motherhood and her career. In a November 2025 interview with Parade, she reflected on juggling HGTV filming, running her business Built Custom Homes, and raising two children.
“It’s been a total overhaul of what I thought I was capable of,” she said. “People talk about juggling it all, but until you’re in it, it’s hard to understand the pull, the guilt, and the challenge of being a working parent.”
Still, Roth said she’s proud of where she is — and committed to continuing the work, both professionally and personally.
“Being in a good place mentally after having two kids and running a business is something I’m really proud of,” she said. “And I work at it every day.”
